We have to go back more than 25 years for our last win at Doncaster in 1989/90 when a solitary David Crown penalty gave us three points to maintain our position at the top of Division Four on our way to eventual promotion. Colchester finished 24th that year and dropped out of the League.

Anyway, tomorrow's tricky looking fixture will be refereed by one of the League's less experienced officials with the man-in-black (or whatever colour) being Sebastian Stockbridge, previously from Sunderland but now from Gateshead.

This is his third season in the League and, judging by his appointments, he's not really impressing.

He has refereed 53 matches producing an above average 182 yellows and 10 reds (2 games 9 yellow and 1 red this season). Championship appointments are few and far between.

His only Southend game thus far was the third of those 53 matches when he presided over our early season 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield in 2013/14. Yellows for White, Prosser and Clifford and a couple of theirs. Freddy Eastwood scored an equaliser - they got a stoppage time winner.

His assistants will be Jonathan Hunt from Liverpool and Graeme Fyvie from Sunderland with Steven Wade from Hull carrying out 4th Official duties.
