Soccer: Knee scan for Dudfield

Southend United striker Lawrie Dudfield will today discover the extent of the knee injury which has forced him to sit out pre-season training sessions with the Shrimpers.

The 24-year-old, who netted five times in 13 games last season, has been sent for an exploratory scan on the problem he picked up during a game of keep ball at Basildon's Gloucester Park last week.

"A few years ago Lawrie had a couple of operations on his knee," explained Blues physio John Stannard.

"It has swollen up a bit after he jarred it again, but hopefully it's just a pre-season niggle and he won't be out for too long."

Duds didn't miss a game 4 us when he was on loan. Now he's a Blue he's hardly ever fit. Don't want 2 start next season without the likes of Duds, Smith & Pettefer.

Tilson should take the players for a pre-season friendly to Lourdes & bottle some of the Holy Water for next year, reckon he'll need it...
