Soham star Dubi in Shrimpers test

Dubi Ogbonna
Dubi Ogbonna
DUBI Ogbonna played for Southend United in a youth tournament at the weekend in a bid to earn a move to the npower League Two side.

The Soham striker, who was linked with moves to Celtic and Aberdeen earlier in the summer, came off the bench against West Ham and FC Twente at Roots Hall.

And the forward, who netted 20 goals last season for Soham in the Zamaretto League, Division One Midlands, converted a penalty in Southend's 4-3 shootout defeat to the young Hammers.

"The fact they were willing to play him means he must have impressed them in training," said Soham manager Ian Benjamin, whose side's friendly at Hadleigh on Saturday was postponed due to player unavailability.

"He'd be able to go for there nothing, but I want him to do well. He's got to be better than what they've already got."

Soham travel to St Ives for a friendly this evening.

I assume that the Soham manager is our ex player Ian Benjamin i.e who put the ball in the Bury net, Benjy.
