Dutch firm wins Rail contract

All staff will be TUPE'd over so nothing will change apart from a few million on coats of paint and a bit of window dressing here and there.

National express was a british company, they lost the contract because they were underperforming.

To be honest most of the problems on those lines aappear to be either infrastructure (overheads are often cited) or suicides, neither of which are controllable by the operator

Most routes in the south have been electrified, where as up here we're stuck with 2 carriage diesel trains which still transport significant amounts of commuters. The shift of business and commerce and govt up from London to northern cities hasn't been met with an appropriate increase in the infrastructure needed.
