Or the mugs or badges or the celebration half n half scarves... were they official BTW ? probably not as it was a rather good money making idea so can't have been the brainwave of the sloths in the business and procurement dept of Roots Hall.

Was told the End of Season DVD will be with us in seven working days yesterday.

Man U DVD is going off to the duplicators hopefully at the start of next week and we hope to have it on sale in plenty of time for Xmas.

Excellent work, that's good to know!

Also well done on the Man Utd programmes reprint & the fact they ARE available to people who aren't local!

Confirmation that the club will be producing DVD of the match.

So why should someone be allowed to make money off the back of Southend's success that isn't Southend United?

I don't think that's right. SUFC is a business, supporters need to appreciate that, the more money we can make the more can be put back into the playing side of things and the better players you will be able to see on the pitch.

If you'd rather that money went to some chancer trying to cash in on everyone else's hardwork then I find that bizzare!?!

I take your point but what was being done wasn't illegal. My question is What's the problem with free enterprise???

Indeed it isn't however for every person who buys a programme in this case off ebay it is a sale lost by the football club who we all know could do with the money.

It wouldn't be too bad if these people were charging face value but I've seen some for 20 quid!!!

It does make you wonder tho why the club takes so long to bang out memorobillia of any kind when clearly it can be mass produced by the looks of things ......overnight ! Maybe you need to get permissions etc but surely these can be anticipated ready to roll after the final whistle...Perhaps the club would do well employing these people to manage merchandise.......Like the idea of purchasing signed programmes etc Official merchandise should always offer that bit more........ie the dvd of the man u game hopefully will feature many unseen behind the scenes footage rather than just a copy of the match which every one with a dvd/tape/sky box recorder will already own.....erm probably

There will be a t-shirt comming in some point next week which will have a picture of the score board, and score details of previous rounds on the back.

I'm afraid to say the scarves were not official. And we already stock several designs of mugs, (you can only have so many mugs in a shop)

Hopefully the DVD will be popular though.

Im sure the DVD will sell literally thousands and thousands! Who is not going to want one?! I'd expect at least 3 to 4 thousand being sold, perhaps anything upto 7 or 8 thousand, especially coming upto X-mas!

Kev

We have to do things properly though. I'm a strong believer that if you are going to do something at all then I'd rather do it professionally than half cut.

E.g. the bootleg DVD's on ebay won't work on every DVD going. Ours will have to so you need a specialist duplicator with the technology to ensure DVD's work on things like PS2's and Xbox's.

We also have to ensure certain levels of encryption to satisy SKY.

Plus when you are knocking off 1,000 of copies its not like some guy in his bedroom doing ten or so versions.

People need to appreciate as well that the staff at the Club are trying to catch up onc all the stuff that has had to be put off because of the Man U game.

I lost two days in the week after the draw was made answering telephone calls and another two days after we won the game.

All fair points Scriv but it's about time the club go "with it".

End of season DVD should be ready within 2 weeks, not 6 months!

I'm not criticising anyone at all but honestly - seize the moment!

When I did my Lamborghini drive, the DVD I ordered was mine within the hour. OK I know that had I wanted thousands it would have taken longer ..but 6 months??

In all honesty we've had a lot of other things to work on. People need to appreciate that we don't have the amount of bodies a Premier League (or most Championship clubs for that matter) do.

My team numbers two. Compare that to Sunderland who number seven and then you get an idea of the scale of things.

Kev our video man offers his services free of charge in his own time (he holds down a completely seperate job).

We've had to go through 5,000 hours worth of video. You can't do this until the end of the season because you don't know the length of season you will have.

Then you are into close season, we all have to take our holidays then and before you know it pre-season is upon you.

Yes we took longer than we liked but it wasn't because we couldn't be arsed.

OK Scriv fair points and I hope you understand I'm not 'having a go' at anyone.

Fair to say though if I get my redundancy i will happily work for you for costs!
