Our head-to-head League record against Barnet is just in our favour with 7 wins to their 5 and 1 draw. The most recent of those wins being back in February when two Matt Dennis goals saw us home. Our best season against them in the League was in 2011/12 when we beat the 3-0 both home and away. Bilel Mohsni scored 4 of those goals, including the hat-trick at home. In the first season back after the war, we beat them 9-2 away in the second round of the Cup, having brushed aside Brush Sports away by 6-1 in round one. Everton also away proved stronger opposition in round three and we bowed out with a very creditable 4-2 defeat in front of over 50,000 (so 17 goals in 3 away cup ties!).

Monday’s referee, unless they change it, is Savvas Yianni from Weston-super-Mare. A former postman, he now lists his employer as the Football Association. He had three years refereeing at this level but he was dropped for the 20/21 season and won his place back with a mid-season promotion this year. His National League matches therefore didn’t start until January and his 4 games have produced 15 yellows and no reds.

Assisting are Jack Clench from Bristol and Grzegorz Kornasiewicz from Witney. Matthew Norton from Hertfordshire stands by as Fourth Official.

Wasted puns; High flying Elliott Swallow replaces Savvas Yianni.

Today's match will now be refereed by Elliott Swallow, from the South Shore area of Blackpool. Approaching 30, he was educated at Lancaster University. He joined Arriva and within 5 years had worked his way up to Head of Operations. Last year he moved on to Transport for Wales, based in Cardiff, as Head of Current Operations (electricity, tides or just “now”?, I know not).
He refereed our televised match at Woking okay.
