He absolutely should have scored that one - free on his own in the box and with just the keeper to beat. Shame, but he’s done really well for us this season. Still, burying chances like that consistently is what will progress his career so it’s something he’ll want to work on.Good highlights but cardwell missed a great chance when we were 1-0 up
The view from behind the goal thanks, @D1versity, shows he just hits it rather than give himself a nano second to angle it wide of the keeper's right. He absolutely should have scored that one - free on his own in the box and with just the keeper to beat. A PL striker would have buried it 99 times out of 100.
As you say, if he's to progress he needs ice in the veins at that moment.
Agreed.A PL striker would cost 99 times more money.
What the D1versity view shows is his first touch took it wider than you would think from the match day highlights. In effect he had to hook the shot so only hit the keeper. He could have gone near post like he did on Tuesday.
Harry C is target man so 20 goals would be a great return. The fact the other forwards aren't scoring anywhere near enough is not his fault
Agreed.
The point is if he's to become, say, an EFL striker, he needs to take that split second to compose and then shoot: as he had in this instance.
The touch wide is minimal, a metre maybe, but he's head down and all hit and hope.
The nearest defender is at least two more metres away - and not getting there in time.
No complaints over his scoring record, and grateful too, just hoping he will get even better.
Thought he should have shot near post rather than across the keeper.Good highlights but cardwell missed a great chance when we were 1-0 up
