The is an article in tomorrow's Echo about Southend Airport. I have heard that it is about plans for easyjet to start flights from Southend. Could be well handy for away games and holidays.

Great news! Southend airport has needed expansion for decades so it's good to see that finally, progress is being made.

It'll be interesting to see which airports EasyJet will actually be flying to.

"The flights will start in April, ahead of the London Olympics, and will begin flying to about 10 destinations including Barcelona and Ibiza in Spain and Faro in Portugal. Easyjet will base three planes at the airport and is expected to fly about 800,000 passengers a year, which will see the annual number of people who pass through the airport soaring to nearly 1m".

Just seen this.

This is going to be very handy for us when it comes to getting to those Champions League qualifier away legs.

yep fantastic stuff, really exciting for the whole area. Great to see a scotland to southend route as well, might mean that Blair will stay now!!!

With increase in passenger numbers there should be an increase in hotel demand. Is Ron sitting on a goldmine?

I live 2 mins from the airport and I can't wait to see the big planes take off and land...sod the noise, the thought of jobs for the area and not having to drive to poxy Gatwick or Stanstead and be charged an arm and a leg to park is great news.

Sooner you than me. The value of your property has just plummeted.
