Scraping the barrel of the term 'ex' here, but 'ex-trialist' Ed Upson bagged a couple of goals in Ipswich's 8-0 friendly win.

I am still a bit mystified why we didnt pick him up at the arse end of last season :(

I have to agree this was a bit of a strange one as to why we didn't snap him up? Possibly a money issue again? Wages? Fee to Ipswich?

Keane offered him a contract, that he signed, at the end of last season, did he not?

Spot on.

We had him on trial, played OK by all accounts, went to Orient as a trial then Keane came to Ipswich and offered him a contract.

I didn't see him play, but I always assumed he was a back up to Sawyer really in terms of bringing him in.

As has been said, he was going to leave if Magilton had stayed but Keane was impressed enough to offer a years contract. Big year for the lad as at his age he needs to be playing to keep developing

Indeed, but we had the chance to sign him before that happened.

I'm not all that surprised we didn't sign him, as I still think Sawyer is first choice if we decided to bring in a box to box midfielder.
