Off to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time this year. Anyone been before and have any recommendations as to how to get the most out of it?

All I have heard so far is to book the bigger acts in advance and then just be open minded as to the other acts.

Be great to hear about any experiences people have had.

Went up there last year for a Jason Isbell gig not realising it was fringe. Funnily enough we booked late and managed to get a hotel right by the station.

Was just a massive covent garden with people sitting on "hover" poles whilst annoying students kept trying to pull you into free magic/comedy shows.

Nice up there though and if you can get tickets for some real acts and not some students goofing about you'll have a good time.

The castle is nice to visit too.

Just enjoy the vibe. Hang out near the Pleasance as loads of comics there and some do impromptu gigs. Dont worry too much about accommodation. Youll be out most of the day and night.
