EDL on Southend seafront.

I drove past the seafront Saturday afternoon and noticed a heavy police presence. Outside one of the pubs was a group of people, some wearing EDL sweatshirts exchanging insults with a group of youths of various ethnicities.

I later heard the EDL had arranged a meeting in one of the pubs. Judging by their numbers they would have struggled to half fill the Cornucopia.

Did anyone else see anything?

Saw their leader -Tommy Robinson-being interviewed on the Sunday Politics earlier today by Andrew Neil.

Seems like he's had three or four different names in his time, also had about the same number of criminal convictions and been inside too.Clearly Luton's finest.

There was a heavy police pressence around Southend yesterday. Didnt see any trouble in the high street or heard of any in the surrounding areas

Saw their leader -Tommy Robinson-being interviewed on the Sunday Politics earlier today by Andrew Neil.

From what I've read (from some anti-EDL types) it was more of a session of Neil trying to bully Robinson, rather than interview him? I didn't see the interview myself, would you agree with that?

As for the EDL presence in Southend yesterday, I did hear that some were kicking off but didn't see anything when I was there at around 1. They do seem to attract trouble though.

I'd say it was a typical Andrew Neil interview (I'm a fan).He was trying to establish that Robinson had changed his name various times,had a criminal record and that EDL "members" had been photographed/video taped giving Nazi salutes.

Tbf,I thought Robinson came over reasonably well.Much better than he did in a recent Newsnight interview with Paxman.He's certainly articulate.
