EFL Charge Blues over non payment of wages

What's the odds on it being applied to the start of next season?

Macclesfield had it this year for the same thing, so hopefully we’ll have the same. A deduction in L2 next year could see us out of the football league

Is there precedent for what this could actually mean to us? I accept that the EFL needs to have some teeth but, ultimately, there don’t seem to be many sanctions available that wouldn’t financially punish a club further for having bad finances?

(Edit: is that what Macclesfield were punished for?)

I hadn’t even considered that point.

Is there any precedent for it? I know they’ve slapped on points deductions for going into administration, but for non-payment of wages?

Someone better check on Ron, make sure he’s not packing his bags & furiously typing, Last minute flights to Mexico, into his phone.

SOUTHEND United have been hit by a misconduct charge by the EFL after failing to pay their players on time for December.

Yeah that's it, fine a club that has no money. The FA screwed Bury over, now they are trying to screw us over too

if The EFL has dealt with Bury properly, we would have had gate money to pay the wages......

The only mess they created was letting Bury start the season. Bolton as well. If the EFL (and PL) had a proper framework, for financial misdemeanours/non payment of employees/creditors, like the non-league in this country or any of the professional divisions in France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc etc... Southend United would have been a non-league club many moons ago.

The best thing about this season is that the shambles has come as a League 1 club because if we were about to be relegated out of League 2 and rocked up in our current state to the National League AGM we'd find ourselves playing Isthmian League football at best.

Can’t blame them.

Agreed. Another set of players who want out just another repeat as before. This time with more debt on the club. The club has no future while Ron is in charge. Some clubs there would be violent protests against the ownership.
