FOOTBALL Association chairman Greg Clarke admits the EFL season may not be completed - and has warned of the danger of losing clubs and leagues as "finances collapse" due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Interesting.
This is someone on high blinking first.
You can't just ignore the FA chairman, whatever you think of him.
My question is how do you save clubs by finishing the season now? Surely, it would need all overheads to be cut at the same time?
How many players at League One level are going to agree to have their contracts cancelled now(ish)?

We will be lucky if life is back to normal by July. Are they thinking of finishing the season then and throwing the next into disarray? Sounds like chaos to me, make a decision now void it so clubs can plan and we know where we stand.
Expecting football authorities to make a timely decision is simply asking too much. Experts at kicking the can down the road.

The only deadline the EFL cannot run away from is that players contracts are uniquely negotiated contracts between individual players and their clubs. Each one probably different in some way. The panic response is at the end of June these can all just be magically be extended by EFL edict. Well of course no the EFL has not got any such capability.

So end of June say 40% of contracts probably more in some L1/2 clubs will come to and end. At that point clubs on the brink and with no cash flow can release those players. How does the EFL force them to extend these contracts they can’t afford to pay?

Surely they need to make the decision asap .Things will not resemble normality for months as any coming out of lock down will not come overnight.Social distancing where possible might well become the norm till a vaccine arrives. In the meantime how can clubs plan and the questions about season tickets ,prices etc are left in limbo Unfortunately it's all about the Premiership and what decisions they might make

All very likely.
I suggest some thought is given to a summer club tournament.
Make it local derbies, regional, and in place of pre season friendlies.
Covid Cup?
