Seems as good a time as any to open up a new thread for talk of our national team(s).

Anyone going to see any of the England games this summer? ODI v Sri Lanka at The Oval and 3rd Test v Pakistan at the same venue for me.

Expecting two series wins in the Tests, an ODI series win against the Lankans and Pakistan to do something bonkers in their ODI series.

Also, good to see that both touring sides are playing a couple of ODIs against Ireland.

No, tickets are too expensive.

Was thinking of going out to Bangladesh but have been put off by the way things are deteriorating out there.

Vince in for Taylor and Ball in for Woakes.

Think that's about right.

Can't see Ball playing, though.

Yep and add the cost of drinks at the ground and you have a very expensive day! They must rake it in.

I'm planning the ODI series in west indies next feb, always wanted to go on a WI tour

That'd be awesome.

You're right about how expensive a day at the cricket has become. Sticks in the craw a bit, but once the first pint or two are sunk it is soon forgotten

At least we get proper beer for the high price, at the WACA we were paying $12 for mid strength as that is all they are allowed to serve, 3% beer at $12 a pop!

Gadzooks!

Only seen England away once before and that was at Newlands. Castle Lager, very cheap. Ruinously so

Of course, one can get round the alcohol restrictions too. I always bring a couple of cartons of fruit juice to The Oval. Topped up with something a little stronger....

Spectacular scenery!!

Going to my first ever test match at Edgbaston vs Pakistan on Sat 6th Aug ... And hopefully the Sunday if it goes to 5th day! Any recommendations for places to stay near the ground!?

Yes all Aussie sport unfortunately has mid strength beer only. I also agree that we should win the two test series.

Am I correct in thinking that if that happens, we'll hold every test series trophy?

It all starts today.

Looks like Ball will miss out and Vince makes his debut.

Bring it on!

England 165-5 at tea.

Also a bad day for Root, gone for just 3.

Cook sadly out for 85, I was hoping he would make a century, although if my maths is correct, his 85 runs, moves him up the table to 11th in the list of players who have made 10,000+ runs in test cricket, 2 runs ahead of Sunil Gavaskar.
