England continued with Bazball against Ireland at Lord's today. Winning the toss captain Ben Stokes inserted the tourists and the bowler friendly conditions gave the evergreen Stuart Broad another 5 wicket haul towards skittling out Ireland. However, debutant Josh Tongue was wicketless.

Big ask for Ireland and a huge learning curve for them, but they showed signs of being a decent team
Thought the crowd were good, considering the opposition, plus side saw both teams bat/ bowl.
Decent warm up for the Aussies as they swagger into town

Considering Ireland donot have a red ball league in place , showed a lot of fight in making England bat again
The whole structure in cricket needs to be looked at , if we are to encourage next countries to be able to come to the table and feast
Looking at the USA with interest, has the potential to explode if it is marketed correctly.
Donot think they will understand five day cricket just yet, but T 20 should get their interest and The Hundred

Personally I thought England manufactured the game a tad and why not,but nothing away from the Irish their 2nd innings was a magnificent effort and enjoyed by all fans in the ground.

England win toss and elect to bat.

Lunch Day 1

England 124 -3

Crawley 61
Duckett 12
Pope 31
Root 20 Not out

Crawley out last ball of the morning session after revue.

England 393-8 Declared

Root 118 Not Out
Robinson 17 Not Out

Gives England twenty minutes at the Ozzie's this evening

Bring back Ben Foakes debate running again after another drop behind the timbers.

Bit like a goal keeper one error and he’s the worst thing ever in front of goal
JB is much better than BF imho but all about how you see the long game and not one or two mistakes
Looking an exciting game for us five day lovers, good end by bowlers to secure a slender lead

Hate to say but this Bazball is not great imho
Fast pace entertainment for crowd but Root stumping today shows why it’s not good
I know I’ll be in minority on this, especially if we lose this test series
Think Aussie right on TV looks good but one shot away from looking daft
Watch Stokes hit 150 before yea now 😂😂

Bazball has its place, but we could end up losing this game purely because of the first innings declaration.

What was the l point, other than to show off and appear arrogant. The Aussies should be chasing 300+

We still might win, I would say it’s 50/50 depending on the weather.

I thought we may lose because when we needed a steady innings over a period of time we played like an ODI especially when Stokes was at crease.
Interesting last day though and crowd will get entertained
