The current crowd disturbances in France always seem to involve England supporters in some way or the other. Either as victims or aggressors our fans are never out of the headlines. Once you give a dog a bad name it never goes away and that, again, seems to be the case in France. What annoys me is that although EUFA have threatened us with disqualification if we don't behave, some of our 'fans' still are intent on getting involved. This is not a new thing, every major tournament we qualify for seems to have some sort of England fans disturbance. I have to say that the trouble is always down to a small minority of England fans, the majority go to games, watch the match and are a credit to their side.

So apart from barring all England support aboard, what else can be done? I don't have a simple answer, but sooner or later we will end up with a permanent ban, either playing wise, or on fans attending if we don't do something very soon. As I type this the TV is telling me that thousands of England fans are heading for the Wales v England game without tickets, let's hope this doesn't heap more misery on our reputation aboard.

It's like the migrant thing but in reverse, in the same way we can't stop people desperate to get into England, we also couldn't do much to stop England supporters intent on getting to the Euros. Not that we'd see them stashing away in lorries of course, but there are so many legitimate routes into France, could we have stopped everyone travelling and demanded to see a match ticket? I don't think we could, and what about those travelling who aren't even going for the football?!

Ban anyone wearing Stone Island from leaving the country over the period of the Euro's? :winking:

A UK passport should be a reward not an entitlement; those with 3+ criminal convictions in the last 5 years ought to lose that entitlement until they can show they can behave and be trusted not to shame the UK when over seas.
That measure might stop a few going.
There must be other ways, however I doubt that there is the collective will at Westminster or Strasbourg to push measures that "restrict" freedom through.

I presume the passport ban whenever England are abroad for certain individuals in still in place, there will be a few more names on the list now I reckon.

Unfortunately there is still a minority that think its big and clever to sings about the war etc. and when they are all together in one place and are drinking all day then things will always get out of hand. Also they will always be a target for other hooligans I don't think we go looking for it as much as we used to.

They should set up special fighting zones. Anyone fancies a rumble with equally moronic tit-heads from another country, off you go. Leave them for a couple of days, any left alive can be carried aloft on the shoulders of Nigel Farage.

My son is out in Lille and has said its a really good atmosphere, the English, Welsh, Slovaks and French are mixing well.

However a few English fans are being vocal, but basically being told to go and do one by the majority with their insulting songs.
Police presence is high and visable, so as long as you stay in control of your drinking and not looking for a dust up, you should have a good time at the Euros

He has been warned not to go into certain parts of the town, so they have abided by this and enjoying the whole Euro 16 atmosphere
Will agree a lot of innocent people have been caught up by the arses that want to taint their country & reputation, but seems 99 % are having fun and mixing as you should in any sport.
He was at Russia game yesterday and at Italy/Rep Ireland next week

Have you ever thought of a career in politics......You would do very well in Russia.

Historically that area was Flanders and Belgium. Mixed results in the fighting there for Brits and Germans but the French lost every time.

So you fancy an England win?

Minor disturbances not involving England are hardly going to make the news here.

When you see video of it, you also need to ask yourself is it a wide or narrow angle lens (no pun intended).

A dozon flares thrown onto the pitch by Croatian fans and kicking off in the seats with each other as well. Oh, and something explodes in a stewards face.

Outrage in three, two, one.........go!!

It's not England so UEFA won't make a big thing of it

Come off it. It's not UEFA who makes a big thing about English violence so much as the English media. I don't think UEFA have actually done anything to England since Heysel. A few paltry fines here and there maybe but they are a drop in the ocean for the FA.

Remains to be seen but I wouldn't be surprised. The ground security has been a joke. For a country on high alert they aren't being very alert at all.

This is the most worrying thing. Any one of those flares could have been a bomb primed for a terror attack

They're going to need to bring dogs in to indicate people to be strip searched! Clearly the security they have is not good enough. Surprised that marshall/steward wasn't seriously hurt when whatever it was exploded in his face.

I'm sure the Croatian players are delighted that their fans' behaviour screwed up their chance of winning.

In Bordeaux last Saturday, fans were getting sun cream confiscated before going in to the stadium. Given Wales were playing, this was probably a violation of their human rights, but I digress.

Point is - how on earth are people able to get flares in to the grounds? Seems the authorities are not being consistent with their approach

And as for England - the dicks will find trouble. A few unfortunates will be in the wrong place at the wrong time and get caught in the crossfire. Most, like me, will look back on their time in a beautiful country having not seen a spot of bother and with some wonderful memories

The Wales v Russia game might be a tinder box,
Imagine the scenario, Wales score, Russia know they are "out" and so it all kicks OFF OFF OFF. The being thrown out won't matter as they would already be out eliminated; if I was FIFA I would be thinking of imposing the suspension notice to be for the next international competition - the World Cup in 2018; Russia! Host nation without a team eligible.
