Of the English qualified players who did us proud only really Ravi (34 now) and Dan Lawrence who could really get near the squad.

As for those selected Malan and Vince.......really? Good to see Parkinson in and Jordan keeps his place.

means we're more likely to see more of our own players. Swings and roundabouts. At the moment the selectors are really down on performances in actual cricket matches, they're more about something else. Don't know what, but not actual cricket.
But it is a fair point about who they could select
Delport - South African
Westley - maybe
Lawrence - maybe
RtD - South African, sorry, 'Dutch'.
Ravi - old, time probably passed
Wheater - barely scored a run all season
Walter - in as a specialist number 7
Harmer - South African
Beard - barely played, very young.
Nijjar - played 3 2020 games ever
Cook - barely played, very young.
Porter - doesn't play much 2020.
So from the winning teams not many who would realistically be called up

Spot on. Think Ravi has been really hard done by considering Joe Denly (34 by next season) is in there and Lawrence would have been so much a better selection than Malan and Vince.

Good to see Banton in there though and Billings back from injury. I have high hopes of those two for England in white ball cricket.

6th on the T20 batting list for the season

6th on the T20 batting list for the season

For T20 I prefer strikerate to average or runs

Strikerate over 150 (min 200 runs) in 2019 Vitality Blast
AB de Villiers 182.19
T. Abell 177.88
Moeen Ali 171.36
E. Morgan 168.81
C. Delport 167.62
A. Lilley 167.56
A. Finch 167.22
R. Bopara 162.56
T. Banton 161.47
P. Salt 161.11
A. Lyth 155.96
A. Carey 152.60
D. Lawrence 152.56
W. Jacks 151.95
G. Maxwell 150.99

That's a quality list of T20 players.

Better still than strikerate is average x strikerate

Well if I am honest I am not at all surprised at this, but it could be good news for Essex.

I'm surprised no Tom Abell, his 2020 record is very good and he seems a really good character, captain at a very young age and makes things happen

Strange again for 5 day Internationals no S Cook or Porter in the squad , yet we pick a Div two bowler and again when Essex Porter was playing Div 2 and taking wickets for fun ignored

We made the excuse he was not picked as Div 2 ,but obviously not the case

No Essex players in either squad yet T20 and possibly County Champions, so bizarre

Said that to my son BS, it seems not part of the big team mentality, still gutted Sam Northeast not given a chance to shine on the big stage, one day .......

Would have been interested to see Silverwood squad if in charge and his vision
Glad Alec Stewart didn’t get the role

Some good names mentioned on this thread that are surprising omissions given that there are a few guys being rested after a long hard summer. Interestingly if you look at the "local icons" that have been selected in the hundred draft you see some names that have been deemed worthy of a 1st pick by the franchises but not of a spot in this squad:

Manchester Originals - Saquib Mahmood, Matt Parkinson

Northern Superchargers - Rashid, Willey

Birmingham Phoenix - Moeen Ali, Pat Brown

Trent Rockets - Harry Gurney, Alex Hales

Welsh Fire - Tom Banton, Colin Ingram N/A

London Spirit- Dan Lawrence, Eoin Morgan

Oval Invincibles- Tom Curran, Jason Roy

Southern Brave- Chris Jordan, James Vince

Sam Northeast mentioned and I'm a fan but interesting that both the England selectors and the Southern Brave selectors preferred Jordan and Vince (Southern Brave had Hants and Sussex players available as local icons)

Positive news London Spirit sponsors are Tyrrells, do like their crisps, hopefully a few freebies on day

Others are Hula Hoop, KP Nuts and Skips:ROFL:
