Interesting article here about the lack of key players missing from the national squad in their defense of the European title, due to teams not letting them go due to pre-season training.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44832541

We need to at least get to the semi finals in order to qualify for the U20 World Cup next year.

For those still needing to watch some international football fixtures, the matches are being broadcast in the UK on Sky Sports (kick off's are 16:30 or 18:30)

SZoners, from abroad can watch on the the following channels by clicking on the link here:

England narrowly won their first game from coming behind today 3-2 against Turkey.

The Groups are:

Group A

Portugal = 3 PTS (+2 g/d)
Italy = 3 PTS (+1 g/d)
Finland = 0 PTS (-1 g/d)
Norway -= 0 PTS (-2 g/d)

Group B

England = 3PTS (+1 g/d)
Ukraine = 3PTS (+1 g/d)
Turkey = 0PTS (-1 g/d)
France = 0PTS (-1 g/d)

The top 2 teams from each group go through to the semi finals, our next game is on Friday against Ukraine at 4:30pm. A win against them should see us progress, leaving us to hopefully thrash France on Monday 23rd in the last match and knock them out at the group stage :Winking:

its a shame our best players are not playing,read on the FA site,that the manager wanted all the players.
Shame the FA cannot demand those players.
First game we were a bit "iffy",but won.
A lot of good teams,wonder if they have all their best players??

just read that article..i find it surprising that they DONT put England first.
Would like to know what the other countries do!!!
If Germany had got there,wonder if Dortmund would have then stopped players playing for Germany.

oh no..a fair draw v Ukraine,not that good,France as we know years in front of us producing youth players now hammering the Turks.
Next game us V France and must not get beat!!!
Or home again early,also we dont go to the World cup,only the top four

France were good,but we were embarrassing.Got beat by 5,but could well have been ten.
Started off poorly v Turkey and went downhill from there.
Last summer seems a long time ago..

I kind of expected it after watching our 1-1 draw with the Ukraine last week. How different things could have been if the league clubs released some of our key players for international duty... we will never know.

I believe we can still qualify for the World Cup if we beat Norway in the 3rd place play off on Thursday.

But why dont the FA tell the clubs that they will take those players.
I believe they can,but not sure.
Is there a way we can find out what other countries left 10 players at home??
France looked very good,sadly,shows us how ..not so good we are.
I get more and more confused(not hard) about the way England try to go foreward.

Well thank God thats over
Battered now by Norway,lost 3-0
25 to 6 shots at goal for Norway(9-3 on target).
We had to win the 5th-6th play off to go to the u-20s WC finals.Seems like,after about one year after winning it,we are already out.That did not last long,sadly
