Essex CCC 2018

Essex V Hampshire later, looking at the table, it's a real 6 pointer, if you don't mind me using a football pun in a cricket thread.

I'm in the Chelmsford office today not far from the county ground and the roads and paths are still wet outside. Fingers crossed it stays dry and we get some play later on but it won't be anytime soon

End of play 363-6, with Lawrence on a 114 not out.

Let's hope we can make it 400 within the next 7 innings to grab maximum bonus points.

In spite of the disappointment of not succeeding with the run chase at Somerset, it was however an improvement on recent batting efforts. Maybe that was a turning point? Great progress today and virtually all the wickets were down to good bowling spells, rather than rash and inappropriate strokes. From here we surely can't lose the game but do we go for the max batting points or try and prevent Hants from getting another bowling point?
