Away from the excitement of the Ashes, one G Flower has continued his sterling work for the county:

G Flower C&B Anderson 0 (1)

14/2, Jefferson also out.

Thanks for letting us know, Mr. B. We have to win our remaining two fixtures if we're to harbour any hopes of promotion. 14/2 is not exactly an ideal start...

45/3

Jimmy Anderson 7-0-26-2. With figures like that he should be in the Ashes squad.....

Worryingly for Essex we've Andre Adams back again instead of Andre Nel

Scorecard

Ended up all out for 267 (with a couple of 6's thrown in from DK at the end) and they ended the day on 139/4 with 2 from Andre and 2 from DK so there's still hope ...

A decent season, but could have been a lot better, again our lack of pace bowling depth has let us down. Palladino seems a good prospect and Goughie was consistent, but the long term injuries to Cowan & Tudor was costly.

On the batting side not too many problems, though i would let Grant Flower go in favour of Pettini or Chopra, and let the young players progress. Ali Cook may get the academy nod, but there could just be a chance he could get the senior tour to Pakistan & India.

It will be interesting to see who the county will try and sign during the winter.
