Loss v Swindon has saved me (bearing in mind I have to fund SS Jnr too) maybe:

1. Away leg v Barnet £20 petrol, say £35 for two tickets, £20 for food, beer and prog, so £75

2. Home leg v Barnet (will have won it already by away leg but still gotta go) £15 petrol, £35 tickets, £20 food etc, so £70

3. Final at Wembley £25 petrol, say £100 tickets (at least one of my other sons would come along for the joy ride), £40 food etc, so £165

Then:

Away trip to Liverpool £75 petrol (guess), say £40 tickets, £70 food etc (would stay overnight at a mates on Wirral so a few beers), so £185. Oh, plus I bet I'd have to go to Sarfend to Q up for getting the tickets so add another £15 petrol to round it up nicely to £200

Perhaps better not fantasise beyond Rd 3 but still that lot adds up to £515.

Then there is some possible less rationale spends due to getting carried away by it all, been meaning to get a new flag for ages, existing one has been taken off SS Jnr's bedroom wall so many times and then been nailed back on I daren't do it again in case of collapse. Want a proper job next time so maybe at least £175.

Plus, a trip to Scouse land prob means at least the hub caps getting knicked and the wing mirrors smashed. So add another £500 to repair car.

So getting now to well over a grand

Thanks Billel & Co, you may have cost the club a few hundred grand but you've saved me at least a grand I don't have spare anyway.

As added compensation I might wait for Uncle Ron to arrive on Friday to gauge his reaction to having lost out on all this extra dosh he could squirrel away on legal costs. Some things you can buy on Mastercard, others are just priceless.
