A few names to start off with in no particular order - (with thanks to Suffolk Blue!)

Malcolm Webster
Colin Morris
Dave Morley
Gary Moore
Daniel Marley
Jack Midson
Alan Moody
Michael Kightly
Mick Gooding
Alvin Martin
Mark Bentley
Dean Morgan
Kevin Maher
Mark Gower
Steve Mildenhall
Glenn Morris
Martyn Margetson
Mark Rawle
Martin Carruthers
Alan Mccormack (just for you OBL!)

Does it matter if I haven't seen them play?? As I only started coming to Southend in the mid 90's there are obviously older players that I am aware of only by name and reputation and would have to rely on the opinions of some of the Zones more elderly contributors!!

Can't believe some of the obvious ones I missed out!!!

Tommy Mooney
Mike Marsh
Franck Moussa
Charlie Mulgrew
Mark Tinkler
Martin Allen
Bilel Mohsni
Mel Capleton
Mitchell Cole
Martin Ling
Roy McDonough
Sean Morrison
Michael Ricketts (I don't think he'll make the final cut!)

Anyone remember Warren May? must have been in either the late 70's or very early 80's

I think another glaring omission is Mervyn Cawston.

Micky Laverick
Mike Beesley
Eddie May
Dave Martin
Marc Warren

One of the easier letters to pick from, an absolute host of talent there :winking:

Jimmy McAlinden is a glaring omission, but I've nabbed him for my XI.

Sammy McCrory is must up front.

Mervyn Cawston v Billy Moore v George McKenzie is an interesting battle.

Not for me, Merv the Swerve is the best ever GK we've had imo, bar none.

unbelievable you all forgot Keith Mercer

I liked Big Barrel-Chested Keith a lot. He had a good turn and volley on him. I always felt that if he had three chances, he would score one of them. I think he lived in Eastwood when he was with us - used to see him playing tennis in the park there with Ron Pountney in the close season.

Ok so far I have this:

GK Mervyn Cawston

RB Micky Stead
CH Mick Bodley
CH Alan Moody
LB Charlie Mulgrew

RM Colin Morris
CM Mike Marsh/ Martin Ling
CM Kevin Maher
LM Mark Gower

CF Sam Mccrory
CF Keith Mercer / Roy McDonough

Thoughts anyone? I've got lots of others just trying to put some form of team out in right positions.
