Michael Kightly back into real contention with a fine brace for Wolves against high-flying Burnley.

Leon Clarke seems to be getting better and scoring a few, and added to his tally with only goal for Sheffield Wednesday against hapless Doncaster.

Still some non-league results to come in, but Sam Higgins scored the only goal for Fisher Athletic in a 4-1 defeat to St Albans. None for the horse-whisperer though !

Penalty king Ian Selley got another one for Maidstone United in a 2-0 win over Ben Abbeys Tooting and Mitcham United.

Brett Darby got one of Quorns 3 goals in a victory over Grantham Town.

Will update podium once I get the full reports in.

i think FA cup goals should be added (if its ok to have such thoughts!)

Haha Quality Aberdeen..

On the subject of adding Cup goals, I am not keen on this.

a) its bloody hard to track
b) its an uneven spread of games

For anyone who follows non-league football closely, they will know that you have more cup games against ridiculous opposition week in week out. It would skew the competitive nature of the competition.
For example Scott Forbes this season will likely take part in the following

FA Cup
FA Vase
Essex Senior League Cup
Essex Senior Cup
Essex Thameside Trophy
Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy
Peter Webster Memorial Trophy

**** that for a game of soldiers

It's already skewed as there are only 16 teams in the Essex Senior League.

How do Takeley qualify for the Thameside Trophy; it's miles from the Thames.
