Yes, we're out. We don't deserve to be, but we are, so here is the 5th round draw:

Man City V Chelsea

Sheffield United/Fulham V Forest/Preston

Arsenal V Liverpool

Brighton V Hull (Would have been us)

Cardiff V Wigan

Sheffield Wednesday V Charlton

Sunderland V Southampton

Everton V Swansea

Thoughts?

If we had gone through and drawn Brighton, I'd have been pretty disappointed.

Hull get another away draw in this year's Cup. Some good ties there in the 5th round. Fancy Everton to go far this year.

It doesnt work like that.

If we had gone through the draw wouldnt have been the same.

All the events leading up to those balls being pulled out would have been different, even the most minute of changes would have meant balls being in a slightly different place and a different draw.

Our result yesterday would have had no bearing on ANYTHING that occurred today with the FA cup. Today's games would have been the played the same way at the same time. We would have has the same number in the draw that Hull had as it is determined by the order of the games drawn in the previous round, therefore 99.999% certain we'd have been away to Brighton had we gone through!

Balls are pullled out by hand.

All it takes is for one ball to go in slightly earlier or later and they all come out different order, no matter what the number is on them.

The person who put them in the bag, or machine or whatever is used put them in at that exact second because of everything that happened up until that point. It could be for example if we had won that person may have stood and watched the news for a couple of minutes longer to watch the story of our giant killing, in which case his whole timeline would have been different, same for the people pulling the balls out, they happened to grab the ball at that exact point because of every tiny thing that had happened to them.

The talking before the show would have been slightly different and that would have meant the timeline was affected.

It would only take a tiny difference in the physical events to mean our ball wasnt grabbed at that exact second.

There is a great documentary film about this sort of thing, its called Back to the Future.

I'm trying to make having Brighton in the next round a softener for losing yesterday, at least let us have that!! Lol

When you see that draw and figure its down to the last 16,dosent it make you see how well Southend done to make it to the last 32 out of thei would say over 1000 teams that entered the competiton.Stand tall fellas ,you done yourselves, the club and the supporters proud, and with an ounce of luck you could have been in the last 16 .UTB.:Worthy:
