Breaking News FA Trophy 5th Round: Southend United v York City, Saturday 11 Feb 3pm

York will be tough opponents but it's as well to get one of the other favourites out of the way early on our march to Wembley.

Or not....

This is definitely a game that the club should make £5 for season card holders and £1 for kids and open all stands. Try and get 6k+ in.

You have to wonder if we could make it to Wembley in the FA Trophy this year.

<SOUTHEND United have been handed another home draw in the FA Trophy.

The Shrimpers made it through to the last 16 of the competition after beating Boreham Wood and Darlington at Roots Hall and they will now be hosting York City in the fifth round.
The tie is due to played on the weekend of Saturday February 11.
York are currently 14th in the National League and will now have to visit Roots Hall two Saturdays in succession.

All 3 of those statements would stand up though to those looking in.

I would say we have a good chance of getting to the final and SOME of the teams aren't all that great but of course nothings a given.
Have we won all the remaining games to the final ?

Shame it isn’t away from a ‘weekend jaunt’ perspective, but from a footballing point of view that’ll do just fine.

As it's a cup competition I am happy with a home draw.

Not a given by any means, As Darlo showed on Saturday, but I bet there were a few glum faces at York when they drew us away.

Providing we turn up and play like we did on Saturday we have a good chance of getting through.

Just beat whoever is in front of us and take it one game at a time and see how far we can go in this competition.
