Fans At Roots Hall - has anyone seen this story?

They had so many enemies, and so many drug suppliers they ripped off, that it might not have been Whomes and Steele. They were really convicted on the evidence of super grass Darren Nicholls. The trouble being he was druggie and drug dealer, and fantasist, and kept changing his story. Nicholls was involved in drug deals between these main players, but he was more their dogs body. Many have suggested that he concocted his story to give the police the convictions they wanted to solve the case, and saving himself from many years in prison.

Essex police have managed a number of convictions where the main witness has changed their story dramatically after several unrecorded interviews with police. Including in the Jeremy Bamber case.

Darren Nicholls said he was the get away driver and they recoverd the car he claimed was used. It I remember right it was an Escort worth a few hundred. They found no evidence in the car to link it to either men. No blood, no mud, no DNA and would you really keep a that car if it had been used?

He was one of Nigel Benn's ringside minders, when he fought.

I knew there was a boxing link, but I was thinking the American heavyweight of the same era. IIRC (and @GBJ will correct me if I'm wrong) held for a time one of the more minor belts, fought Tyson and Lewis and later Herbie Hide.

Yeah that rings a bell, although if it’s the same one I’m thinking of, that Tony Tucker was a black man from Detroit(?).

These films are beyond ****, but if the club are earning a couple of quid from it, then so be it.

I was just a young pup when TT&R were doing their thing. I’ve spoken to people who mixed in similar circles back then, and they don’t have many respectful things to say about them.

The films have been dramatised beyond reality (Turkish mobs using truth serum? Hahaha) and their story has been romanticised to the point that they have become the protagonists... well, in the eyes of disillusioned wannabe’s anyway.

Their portrayal as underworld bosses, is comical too, when in reality, the real names and faces from this area (and further afield for that matter), never saw them as anything more than low level pushers who were bringing a lot of unwanted attention towards Essex.

Was it Jack Whomes or Michael Steele?

And honestly, none of what you said surprises me. Loads of people/friends local to me (south woodham ferrers) who knew of and also had strong connections to both men have always said neither of them had it in them to pull off such a thing.

Detective Supt Dibley, the gentleman who was first on the scene said he never seen anything like it, it was actually very sophisticated in the way the murder was done. Dibley also worked on a theory where he thought maybe only 2 of the essex boys were shot and the 3rd killed himself. No signs of struggle at all

One of the many things that raise eyebrows about the case is the way they left the bodies in the Range Rover, covered it with a tarp and then loaded onto a truck. They drove it to a police garage and took the crime scene photos in the comfort of the garage.

Anyone can see these photos on various websites, all though I believe some have now been removed. Back in the day a few of us skimmed through the photos when we were bored one night at work and the topic had come up. Straight away we noticed the photos looked badly recreated as the bodies must have moved. The driver had his hand on the steering wheel which is at full lock....A quick glance at the snaps from the actual scene proves the obvious. If you stopped down a narrow lane in front of a farmers gate, why would you have the steering wheel on lock. Plus you can see the way the blood has run after the initial splatter does not add up. Wonder if this was ever brought up at trial by the defence?

I remember stumbling on the crime scene photos and really wish I hadn't.

Who didn’t back then... Robyn will tell you ?

Tyson was a bad man, there’s no two ways about it.

Robyn Givens was no angel either. As the story goes, she was very calculated, and incredibly conniving.

If Mike was the fire, she was undoubtedly the fuel.

Yes this has always puzzled me too.

In every photo I’ve seen, the wheels have always been aligned perfectly, which begs the questions why was the steering wheel moved, and why was Rolfe’s hand repositioned?

There were rumours the White House Farm/Bamber shootings crime scene was re-staged after being disturbed

I knew the track/lane well, as a Rettendon lad back then, always had tractor tyre grooves in it when i walked down there. I was a drinker in the local Wheafsheaf pub, just a field away from the incident, first time i'd ever met The Sun and Mirror reporters. Couldnt believe my eyes watching the news. Strange to think in 2020 they are still making films about it.
Stranger still that they use Roots Hall. Even stranger that i cant go to watch football.
