FC Thread - Season 22

Nicked a couple out to leave them 41/2 at close so pretty even. Need a good morning session to have a lead.

Finished the day on 226/5, a lead of exactly 100. Need Tyas to get out rather quickly this morning, so have set him to Attacking, other than that, declaration set to 360 as we could do with this going to 3 days if poss as we're desperate for cash...

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 45 (3 runs). Chonner CC: 98-6, runrate=2.18
Trail by 181 runs. (Southend United 279-10)
Overs left today: 75
Hulse 8-3-9-0
Nason* 5 (10 balls)
Rowntree 0 (10 balls)
Last Wicket: Udayakumar Run Out 0 (FOW: 94/6)

Have taken a couple of wickets but they bat to 8 so a long way to go yet. Think my chances of winning are now pretty slim unless we get a flood of wickets and we're going to have to bat well to secure the draw as it's PCH all the way through. Didn't help that the pitch shifted from green to green/H&F overnight.

End of Over 57 (3 runs). Eppleton CC: 144-4, runrate=2.53
Trail by 63 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 207-10)
Overs left today: 71
Digana 19-2-41-1
Shotton-oza* 61 (125 balls)
Stevenson 18 (59 balls)

Last Wicket: Dance Run Out 8 (FOW: 101/4)

End of Over 16 (Maiden). rusty cc: 39-1, runrate=2.44 (1st Inn: 119-10)
Trail by 85 runs. (Napster's XI 243-10)
Overs left today: 68

Bosh, the big boys return and wreak some havoc. Looks like a one innings shootout now.

63.4 W Gulzar to Dylan
My son has asked me to try and get his bat signed by Dylan today. I may pop down and ask him now, as he's just holed out to Guneratne at square leg. Soft dismissal from a full toss.

62.3 W Digana to Stevenson
Digana goes up confidently for that one, but Lamey and the close in fielders seem a bit hesitant. The umpire heard a noise though and has given it out. Stevenson has a petulant word with Digana as he heads to the pavilion.

61.5 W Gulzar to Shotton-oza
Stick a fork in Shotton-oza - he's done. Clean bowled!

Looks like we're going to be done with a day and a bit to spare. Could have done with the extra cash, but hopefully the days rest will give us a boost on Friday...

BATTY SHRIMPERS v BGS XI

Pitch: cracked/uneven

End of Over 36 (Maiden). BGS XI: 61-7, runrate=1.69 (1st Inn: 116-10)
Trail by 122 runs. (BATTY SHRIMPERS 299-10)
Overs remaining today: 44
Motterham 9-4-10-3
Dawson* 17 (70 balls)
Bosi 0 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Dhanjal c. Tyas b. Motterham 0 (FOW: 61/7)

End of Over 33 (1 run). Chonner CC: 79-6, runrate=2.39 (1st Inn: 111-10)
Trail by 89 runs. (Southend United 279-10)
Overs left today: 29
Camilleri 6-1-12-3
Rowntree* 1 (4 balls)
Udayakumar 8 (16 balls)
Last Wicket: Nason c. Wright b. Cahill 10 (FOW: 73/6)

And that's the end of the match. Southend United won by an innings and 77 runs.

End of Over 42 (Maiden). Chonner CC: 91-10, runrate=2.17 (1st Inn: 111-10)
Trail by 77 runs. (Southend United 279-10)
Overs left today: 20
Lake 10-5-15-1
Udayakumar* 16 (40 balls)
41.2 W Lake to Livermore
They have underestimated the arm of Baxter there and he easily relays it to Wright who pushes the ball onto the stumps before Livermore can return to his crease. An easy run out.

Glad you're all having comfy rides! A very slow afternoon here as my batsmen try to protect their wickets. Sinethemba used up 122 balls for his 27! A few runs in the last over though so hopefully we'll be over 140 odd clear tonight.

End of Over 36 (10 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 73-1, runrate=2.03 (1st Inn: 207-10)
Lead by 96 runs. (Eppleton CC 184-10)
Overs left today: 16
Chanderpaul 10-4-25-1
Lamey* 32 (88 balls)
Guneratne 7 (6 balls)

Last Wicket: Sinethemba b. Chanderpaul 27 (FOW: 63/1)

Disastrous end to the day as we lost 3 quick wickets and are now in a very precarious position. Defeat looks likely as the pitch has gone from green to green/H&F to H&F/green. My only saving grace is that the weather was due to be sunny on day 3 but will now be PCH. Will need some middle order runs though.

End of Over 52 (3 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 109-4, runrate=2.10 (1st Inn: 207-10)
Lead by 132 runs. (Eppleton CC 184-10)
Jackson 5-1-15-1
Wanless* 11 (17 balls)
Nadeeka 1 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Guneratne b. Jackson 26 (FOW: 105/4)

in a game that was looking quite tight, it seems moving Nurse up to open the bowling this morning has swung the game right in my favour...

End of Over 23 (Maiden). Mondaye Magicians: 77-6, runrate=3.35 (1st Inn: 131-10)
Trail by 305 runs. (N-Trance shire 210-10 & 303-4)
Overs left today: 96
Nurse 7-1-22-5
Trigune* 45 (70 balls)
Karel 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Firth Hit Wicket b. Nurse 0 (FOW: 77/6)

22.6 . Nurse to Karel
No run, slower one on the off, legcutter, punched to cover.
22.5 . Nurse to Karel
Good ball, on a length and moving away off the seam. Unlucky not to nibble the edge as Karel resists the urge to chase it. There's an unmistakable tang of disappointment about Nurse's body language.
22.4 W Nurse to Firth
Ouch! That wild delivery has nipped back sharply off the seam, cannoning into the ribs of Firth. Nurse briefly raises his hand in apology until Firth, falls backwards across his stumps. Nurse suddenly is only interested in celebrating with Ridgway.
22.3 W Nurse to Bacon
Caught behind! No, dropped. No, caught! Sensationally Oakley at first slip somehow scoops up the rebound before the ball hits the turf. Bacon shakes his head ruefully as he trudges back to the pavilion.
22.2 W Nurse to Meadowcroft
Crackerjack. Back of a length and fended limply into the cordon, Ridgway dives across first slip and pouches a spectacular catch. Would have looked daft if he hadn't though, as that was headed straight into first slip's midriff.

Pretty disastrous here, first defeat of the season awaits. Not a massive problem as we weren't going to get promotion, nor will we relegate and fortunately it's an away game tomorrow and we have the cup and BT20 to get the morale back up.

End of Over 16 (2 runs). Eppleton CC: 42-0, runrate=2.63 (1st Inn: 184-10)
Trail by 124 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 207-10 & 143-10)
Overs left today: 72
Gulzar 8-1-24-0
Thay* 26 (53 balls)
Lovers 16 (43 balls)
