FIFA has approved the extension of player contracts until seasons are able to finish and the movement of transfer windows in response the coronavirus pandemic.

Well approved is not really the word as they have no power or ability to do that- they are proposing/ suggesting that clubs and players get together and extend their contracts which of course either party may not want to do.. so Groundhog Day to those following this.

They don’t suggest who will be funding these extensions and further seem to recognise one of the reasons why clubs can’t extend is they have no money to do so.

In short it a “hope” or “suggestion” that they know is built on sand for many leagues.

I am now thinking that the only real consideration is trying to find a way that the top leagues can finish- where huge squad sizes and finances make their ideas at least possible.

The same plans are impractical at EFL level, certainly L1 & 2, and I think they have secretly written off the idea of lower leagues finishing. After all completing the Prem will rescue 90% of the TV money.
