Films you've watched recently.

Yes, really. I found the whole thing completely naff. I was never going to like it as I can't stand Ewan McGregor and have never liked anything Danny Boyle has done (apart from his 2 episodes of Morse). I was 23 when it came out and it defined absolutely nothing for me.

Hey ho, each to their own.

I thought Trainspotting was one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life. Horses for courses I guess.

Not a fan of him either but Trainspotting I love. Saw it whilst I was out in Oz. Haven’t bothered with the new one but have read Porno which I think it’s loosely based on.
Watched the Graham Norton show when they were all on, got the feeling it was the Boyle McGregor love in which the others didn’t quite buy into.

It's vaguely based on Porno, which to be fair is unfilmable.

Re-watched sexy beast. Ben Kingsley is incredible. Very good for him alone . 7 out 10

Finally got round to watching the long good friday. Bob Hoskins is terrific. So many one liners and laugh out loud banter. 8 out of 10

Bohemian rhapsody. Decent film but for me it just seemed like it was trying to hard. Enjoyable none the less. 6 out 10
Mona Lisa is doing the rounds are channel 4/5 at the moment- not as good as the long good Friday ( what is ?) but still a good film

I hate Ewan McGregor.

Yeah I thought he caught Bush's naivety well.

He was criminally under-used I thought, but fair enough I suppose as Bush is really only a peripheral figure in the story, probably intentionally as Bush was only a peripheral figure in US policy as the film illustrates.

Vice is outstanding though. Superbly well written and directed, with a pitch-perfect cast. Adam Curtis' fingerprints are all over it but after this and The Big Short, I don't think there's a writer as capable of distilling significantly dense and complex topics like that as McKay is. It's like a documentary mini-series by stealth. Can't wait to see how he tackles global warming in his next effort.

Vice- Really enjoyed it, not sure how exaggerated the Dick Cheney character was! Very interesting and entertaining. Bales Cheney is superb as is Steve Carrell as Donald Rumsfeld. 8.5/10

I think pretty much all Bush's scenes are in the trailer, hardly in the film at all! But from the picture the film paints he hardly had anything to do with running the country.

The Old man and the Gun.Robert Redford says this will be his last film in front of the camera. It's very enjoyable if whimsical with an excellent supporting cast including Sissy Spacek and Tom Waites.
