Saw Neil Jordan's Marlowe earlier with Liam Neeson in the title role.Really quite good.Though I don't think Boggart,,Bob Mitchum plus Elliot Gould et al need to sweat too much. :Winking:

Blues exile---Your type of film?
Not especially the genre, but British films of the 50s, particularly 'b' films and productions from the smaller studios ie not Rank or Associated British. They often imported second string American actors like Forrest Tucker in the present example, which made them saleable in the States. Seeing them now, despite the obvious small budgets and limited technilogy compared to nowadays, they usually have the long abandoned virtue of clearly spoken dialogue, excellent photography and location shooting so evocative of the peiod.
