He wouldn't if he never reached the first team, I guess. Should we restrict this to first-team players only? If Welch/Firmani are Afrikaaners, are they excluded?

I like the idea of Cadette. Someone I can easily get hold of.
Being born in Barbados Welch surely cannot be Afrikaan. From what I remember of him you called him whatever he wanted you to call him!

Okay to clarify:

We've had a Black who was white, a Whyte who was black.
A Gray who wasn't, but probably is now.

We had a French or two who were English, a Welch who was Barbadian.

We had a Payne and a Best who certainly lived up to their names.

An Edinburgh from Essex, a Dublin from London, a Parris from Barking.

Excuse me being blunt but why does it matter who was our first black player? Who gives a toss what colour our players are?

I don't think its exactly a racist question, there's many other trivial questions about the Blues on here! If we had a question such as youngest player to score in a Blues shirt would people jump to the conclusion thats its Ageism then...?

Think its Political Correctness gone crazy....

On a serious note, it is worth looking back and seeing how long it took for black players to gain a foothold in the sport. Bit of social history, really. Compare to the number of Asian footballers now.
