Football books

Enjoyed Peter Reid's 'Everton Winter, Mexico Summer' from 1986. Also Baz Rathbone's 'The Smell Of Football' (2011). A good 'compilation' is 'My Favourite Year' - edited by Nick Hornby (1994).

Anyone on here read Paul Sturrocks book?

Yeah a while back .There's just one chapter on us but it's an interesting read. Most of it focuses on his (great) playing days with Dundee +time at Plymouth etc.

Looked like it had been cobbled together a bit during his illness.

Michael Calvin’s books are excellent, surprised none of them are in that list.

Good call!

I used to know a hard line Cardiff City fan (ex-Soul Crew member) who actually did see Robin Friday play and actually became friends with him due to socialising with him on many occasions. Apparently an incredible talent, but also a total addict, and the drink and drugs got the better of him. Used to regularly go out on the p1ss with fans and worse.

Good book too
