I'm heading off on my holidays for 10 days in July and looking at getting a couple of good football books to read whilst on my sunlounger.

I've read Red Card Roy and Simon Jordan's (Ex-Palace chairman) autobiography on previous holidays and am nearly finished with The Nowhere Men, so looking at a couple of good suggestions.

Any recommendations?

Graham Hunter's 'Barça' is up there with the best football books I've read. Very interesting and great overview of the Guardiola era there.

Im pretty sure ex southend player Ben Smith has just written a book. I believe its called "Journey Man" and he explains the life of a lower league footballer. Might be worth a read:thumbsup:

The Miracle of Castel di Sangro by Joe McGuiness - Italian Serie C team's first foray into Serie B....much like our own little club.

Playing at Home by John Aizelwood, a bit pre dated but a great book about a fan doing all 92 grounds in 1 season

Morbo - a fine history of Spanish football

The Footballer Who Could Fly - journalist Duncan Hamilton recalls the footballers who shaped his love of the game

Written by Phil Ball (A TEFL teacher in San Sebastian).:thumbsup:Mostly covers the Real Madrid/Barça rivalry though (as the title suggests).

It's been a while since I read it, but there was some great stuff on the game in Sevilla and the Basque Country too.

There has certainly been an update as when it was first written, Spain's international record was pretty dire. I seem to recall they've done rather better of late...

Stanley Matthews and Pelé's books are great reads, back before money ruled football.

Thanks guys.

I've heard a lot about thirty one nil and The Unstoppable Keeper.

Anyone read either of these?
