Question Football related injuries?

On Boxing Day over here I went to see Brisbane away at Gold Coast. In line with many away days watching Southend it was a cracking day out (however I've never drunk beer overlooking a beach like Surfers Paradise whilst watching the Mighty Shrimpers) spoiled only by the football (we got beat 5-1).

Also in line with away matches with Southend despite getting thrashed we as away fans outsang the home supporters with a long and rousing rendition of The Great Escape (a la playoffs against Doncaster).

This continued as we walked out of the ground, en masse through the Gold Coast fans on the way to the pub (this is a local derby, which made it even more fun).

However...as I was having so much fun I didn't notice that a kerb I was stepping down was a bit high and I went over on my ankle and fell over. Filled with beer as I was and not wanting to have the Gold Coast fans laugh at me I got straight back up and continued to walk along singing and chanting. I was a good 20 minute walk to the pub though and by the time I got there I was in agony and my ankle had swollen to the size of a tennis ball.

Basically the swelling didn't go down and the next day I gave in and went to Emergency and am now in plaster and on crutches with a broken bone in my ankle.

Reason for my post is, I'm sure I'm not the only person to do something equally as drunken and foolish to sustain an injury at football....so, your stories please......

I haven't been injured like that but I had a swollen ankle (like yours) but it was only sprained.

I'm sure that there are others out there that have been injured at football matches.

I remember a poster admitting he had got drunk before the Sheffield Wednesday 5th round FA cup game and managed to fall over and roll through some dog dirt.
