I read an article on the Sky Sports News app about Wenger is not happy about Jack Wilshere seen smoking on a night out after the Napoli game. Personally if I was a professional footballer earning all that money and needing to be fit beyond belief I would never even consider smoking.

I know a lot of players do it like Rooney, Berbatov and Best back in the day have always smoked. Just wondered what people's opinions are on players smoking?

If I was a manager I would fine players if caught smoking. Plenty of time to smoke as many fags as you want when you retire but not when you play for me!

Agreed, when you play you should be as fit as possible. After you retire, you can then pile on the pounds - see Steve Bruce.

I noticed that the other day actually how rotund Steve Bruce has got. And also Brendan Rodgers is getting larger every time I see him on the tele too.

Rooney seems to be able to run around for 90 mins + if he's on the ciggies. If it's not affecting performance, then I can't see a problem.

Rodgers has actually lost weight since the end of last season.

I don't think cigars will ever affect Berbatov's performance though.

The odd one at the weekend night after the game I wouldn't have a problem as will have no effect. If it was a regular thing then that's just not professional at all.

Did he miss the urinal and wee on his shoes?

Believe me MK I was a love God of the 70's and wee on the shoes was nothing compared to wearing fawn coloured oxford bags in the Disco and trying to cover up after a splash back occurred in the toilets, spent many a nightout hugging the radiator for a quick dry.

As for the smoking, Wenger and Arsenal do more than enough physiological tests on players that if the smoking was having a detrimental effect on his fitness, it would've been identified and acted upon already. A crafty fag on a night out isn't going to do him much harm.
