MARTIN Ling will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of tomorrow’s game between two of his former sides at Roots Hall. But the ex Exeter City and Southend United midfielder will also be wishing he was still involved in management too.

I very much enjoyed watching Martin Ling the player and his managerial record is respectable. I very much hope he finds a position in management again and continues to be free of the depression he suffered.

When you consider how many professionals are still in the game after being incarcerated for numerous crimes, it would be a great pity to see an innocent man, cruelly inflicted by depression and now recovered, not given the opportunities he deserves.
