There's a lovely piece in today's Mail by Martin Samuel laying into Franchise FC and Winkleman, while congratulating AFC Wimbledon their rise up the BSP. Samuel is I think the only writer working for a National daily that actually knows and cares what happened to Wimbledon FC and the way the Football League allowed franchising in it's leagues. Long may he continue.

Link or no link this is a valid point raised by H, MK are a team by proxy and i wish them nothing but misery .. though i do think they'll be in the prem within 5 years and it'll be yet another nail in the coffin of the game i (used to) love

Samuel is the pick of the bunch, but there's plenty of good sport in The Daily Mail. Charles Sale (although horribly up himself) is good for sports business, Mike Dickson for tennis, Paul Newman (and little snippets from David Lloyd) for cricket and Derek Lawrenson even manages to make golf mildly interesting.

Charles Sale reguarly gets his wrists slapped in the private eye.

Yes, he does get his knickers in a twist quite often. Still entertaining, although maybe not in the way he would intend.

Well, back in 2002, he was on £150k a year. So he must be on similar to Samuel now.

Samuel may be on a bit more as he does comment pieces in the news section of the paper too.

Agree with Samuel and Sale, and Newman on the cricket.

Also Henry Winter in the DT for football.

What's happened to Paul Hayward? He always wrote a good column in the DT
