Apparently there was a feature in the Arsenal v Athletico Madrid programme last night celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Arsenal's 1988 FA Youth Cup winning side, ahead of tonight's FA Youth Cup Final*

The article featured some of the names in that side and up popped not only old Francis but none other than Pat Scully, as well.

Funny thing is with Francis, I always thought he played more games for us instead of 1 sub appearance and 1 other game. In fact, his whole career took a nosedive after that FA Youth Cup win, looking at his playing history.

I used to watch this guy at rootshall for the reserves many years ago, had lots of ability but was very much in and out of games and couldn't do it consistently, my mate Steve Heffer played in the same Southend reserve side, good old days:smile:

Definitely one of our most successful former players, but he’s just been released ,as an economy measure, from his position of Head of Recruitment by Arsenal.Playing career ended by injury,he went back to spend 24 years with the aGunners.

Described as follows on Sky Sports News:

"Arsenal's famed global scout Francis.. Cagigao - the man who discovered Cesc Fabregas - is set to be one of the high-profile casualties of the club's redundancy cull."
