I know I am in the minority but would like to see if we could accommodate both GSM and Wind in the same side (with GSM playing as a winger in 4-4-2 formation).

Feel for the lad as I think he’s been a victim of the circumstances. There’s only one RWB spot in the team and Gus has been immense this season, so although it’s disappointing he’s not had many minutes, it’s hard when the guy in front of you scores 17 and is the first name on the teamsheet.
Bundles of potential though and despite the lack of minutes, I feel like he’ll still feel he’s in the right place. Hope to see more of him though as I’ve been really impressed.

Why would you expect a defender to come on and change the game? A more attacking player maybe, but a defender generally comes on to plug a gap.
I think he knew he was coming in as Gus' understudy, if and when Gus goes, he will be one of the first names on the team sheet.

As OBL said, he knew what he was getting into when he signed. Gus has been extremely durable, probably freakishly so, given the volume of games he's played*
I think there have probably been moments that I'd like GSM to come off for a rest and Wind to get some minutes, but those opportunities have been few and far between. Wind will have to continue to be patient, and it's great that we have a quality player ready to step in if needed. I agree with others who say that he looks to be a great squad player with a really good attitude.
*Top 10 outfield players in the league. Most of the others are centre-halves, and we also had a couple of decent cup runs that he featured in.

Why couldn't GW be used to push GSM upfront more, Gus seem to stop scoring when he had to get back to defend. Im not sure when he stopped scoring, but I wonder if it happened when the tactics changed?

I think there's a few things:
- teams being wiser to GSM attacking the back post
- teams forcing GSM to drop further back by exploting the gap betweeen GSM and Taylor
- regression to the mean, GSM wasn't just going to continue to be a prolific goalscorer from RWB forever, it was a run that was unheard of at any level of football
- I also think our tactics adapted to be a little bit more 'traditional' in terms of how we looked to score goals and win games, once we brought in Kendall and Hopper to bolster our frontline. Took the pressure off needing GSM to be our main provider of goals. We still managed to get good results, especially in the second half of the season, when GSM wasn't scoring.

I hope you are right, I just worry that he thinks Southend are not a premiership side, and he doesn't even play reserve games. All im asking is use him or lose him, as he could be worth money. We have lost a few players who went on to much better things, and we didn't get anything out of them?
This is exactly what will happen.
It all depends on what happens with GSM though.
Scenario 1) Gus leaves this summer, Wind will get his chance.
Scenario 2) GSM stays, but doesn’t reach the heights he got to last season. Wind will probably get more of a chance, and him and Gus will alternate depending on our opponents, win/loss streaks etc
Scenario 3) GSM stays & replicates his goal scoring form of last season. Wind will likely have to look elsewhere… unless someone comes in and poaches Gus, in which case we revert back to scenario 1.

If he can't get into our team then he's unlikely to be worth anything. The vast majority of players at this level aren't - they just move on at the end of their contracts
