Rumours suggest that Gary will probably not get the managers job.

However, think he's done a great job trying to work with Bond's train wrek, confidence rock bottom and the uncertainty at the club at all levels.

He talks really well, the players know and seem to like him, he's got bags of experience with success on his CV

If he doesn't get the managers job, I hope he can remain at the club in some capacity.

It does seem unlikely now that Waddock will be appointed as our next manager- why the long wait otherwise? Under these circumstances I think he has done a decent job keeping things rolling. It is surely impossible to lift the team with all this uncertainty around and without a lift in morale we are likely to get the same old results on the pitch. On TalkSport this week the point was made on the Alan Brazil show that if morale is low and confidence in short supply there is a negative physical effect on players- they can become a yard slower, less responsive to what is happening in the game, for example- which prevents them playing to their potential. Sounds a lot like us at the moment and not something within Waddock’s gift to correct.

Fair play to Waddock. It can't have been easy keeping the players focused with all the speculation going on and to be fair it looks like he's fought a bit of a losing battle on that score. But he speaks well in interviews and seems to have earned the respect of the players. All with his own future hanging in the air too.

There can't be any other jobs where you are asked to carry on indefinitely, in front of thousands of people, while your boss publicly announces that he is off abroad to meet with your possible replacement. I hope that his contribution is properly appreciated by the Club whatever the outcome for Gary.

The rare bit is being a job which is performed in front of thousands of people. Being expected to fill in whilst a replacement for your boss is sought is hardly unusual.

Yes but Ron said he was interviewing potential backroom staff in Sweden which would probably mean Gary's replacement.

Chairmen don't fly to Sweden to interview back room staff - back room staff fly to England to be interviewed by Chairmen.
Chairmen might well fly to Sweden to meet potential investors or purchasers though! When you think about it, that's far more feasible.

He's basically in the situation when a consultation for redundancies has been announced and he's waiting to hear whether the axe falls on him or not.

Back on topic now please chaps - as @rayleigh dan says please discuss the subject of the thread as intended in the first post. If it’s not an interesting point for you we have many other threads :Thumbs up:

The players don't seem focussed to me....anything but!
