Definitely Teds the man. Far more agile than Oxley may ever be, learning fast with England experience as well. Gaining in strength and physique, made some good reaction saves similar to Dan in that respect, but Oxley can blast the ball past the other keeper and is length of kicking is exceptional. I hope we stick with Ted, Would it help his confidence to drop him now?
Thinking of a glut of Smiths, I am impressed with Boreham Woods Grant Smith, ex Fulham and Brighton trainee, aged 23, looks very good. Wonder if our Head Coach has tabbed him for January or whether Peterborough will snap him up and flog off for £2.5m?

Ted is clearly sort of confidence. What you can't do to him in that situation is chop him and change him every couple of games. Especially when he's got a manager who's likely to hang a defeat on him at some point. If he's in, we need to give him a run of games, and tolerate any mistakes he makes. Or send him out on loan – what is doing him no good at all Is being sat on our bench.

If we decide he's not playing, Oxley is the only other keeper we have so we all need to get behind him. He may not be the best keeper we have ever had, but he's all we've got until Christmas, so bring it on.

its weird reading all of the posts saying "give smith a chance" "needs confidence" " run of games will help" etc etc- aren't all of these things relevant for Oxley as well ? Lets not forget when he has played our defense has been crap

Got to teach Ted Smith to come of his line, get in the pack and get to the ball.... From set pieces.....Bently had the problem too....

If we need to see if Ted can cut it, then give him the next 6 games and tell him, so he can mentally prepare for it.
See how he does. Then make a long term decision, whether we need to get someone else in or go with Oxley. We've got to be happy with the Bolton result. still plenty to play for this season.

Got to be giving Ted a run for me. His certainly no worse then Oxley even at this early stage in his career. Only thing Oxley has over him is the kicking, distribution is key in the modern game, but that's more for quick good distribution to kick off a counter attack.

Who is arguing otherwise?

If I, or someone else, points out that he made a mistake or isn't yet as good as Bentley that's not calling for him to be dropped.

He's going to make mistakes (and he did make mistakes Saturday), but unlike King we've got him under contract so we can benefit long term from the lessons he learns whilst on the steepest part of the learning curve.

Thanks for that, very astute.

Why don't you try pointing out something he did do well next game, like I did on Saturday. Then you'll find one of the 'Groovy gang', who didn't even go, claiming you don't know the first thing about being a keeper
