Going to the Weymouth game on Fri July 12?

A little early maybe, but as it seems a few might be planning a trip to Dorset around this and actually only a month now to go I thought it worth making a suggestion or two if folk fancy a few Dorset beers with fellow Shrimpers.

Now living in Swanage (less than an hour from Weymouth, voted last week as Dorset's premier resort by 'Which?'), a few of us will be spending the day in Swanage on Thursday 11 July. Loads of bars, beach front cafes, pier, great beaches, boat trips, a fantastic steam railway, bustling town, beautiful bay ............ there's loads to like and we always think it's more classy than the much larger Weymouth. There's loads of good places to stay to suit all budgets.

On the Fri 12 July after a Swanage beach-side breakfast we'll then be off to Weymouth to arrive around midday and take in a beer or two by the harbour area (by far the best bit of Weymouth) before ultimately going to the stadium (which has a club bar in the main stand).

If anyone will be in Swanage and/or Weymouth on the above dates and wants to talk SUFC and SUEPA stuff (I'm bored of talking about the good book now) over a few beers with fellow Shrimpers do let us know and we'll confirm meet-up points. Might even have a SUFC beach BBQ in Swanage on the Thurs eve if weather is good.

A few Swanage pics from last week attached.

Been to the Purbecks many times but the evening I have a gig. Sod's law! Oh and decent ciders, Aston Press and Middle Piddle (honest)

In a Month's time there will be a blue army coming over that hill.

Take a drive over to Portland Bill. Some lovely walks along the cliffs.

That weekend, on both Sat & Sun is the yearly Pommery Dorset seafood festival. The town is absolutely packed solid all weekend, we went last year.
If you like all kinds of seafood/shellfish presented in various ways amongst literally 100's of stalls, then stay over for an extra day or two. It's well worth it.
