To keep hold of a player that long waiting for his registration, Phil Brown must see something special in him. Fingers crossed he is the extra spark needed to push us to promotion. I'd like another CB on loan and a pacy striker though

I really dont understand this signing when we are short at CB & up front. PB must really see something in him as were not exactly lacking in midfield.
Maybe he can have the effect on the team Tam did last season.

Interesting one this. Leaves the central midfield like so:

Leonard, Timlin, Laird, Gomis, Clifford, Atkinson, Payne.

Wonder what Clifford thinks of this? Played reasonably well this season without excelling, decent league 2 central midfielder with good potential, now possibly 5th choice.

Welcome to the club Bedsente! Is he the first Senegalese player to play for the blues?

A sign of good things to come? A player comes in, embargo lifted and then diggers at FF :winking:

Payne possibly go out on loan to get some experience? Sticking around being 7th choice in his preferred position isn't going to help him develop much.

If we weren't so short of CB players this would not seem to be such a strange signing/position strengthening; middies often pick up lots of cards and they also should be working box to box and so tire or get injuries. It may be that this is a master stroke signing & I will reserve judgement until he plays.

Southend United complete Bedsente Gomis signing

SOUTHEND United have finally completed the transfer of midfielder Bedsente Gomis.

Yes, welcome.

But like many others are saying, what about the defence and strikers?

We have options in defence I suppose in that Bennett will soon (hopefully) be back in full training and there is Auger and a number of our current players can move within the back four.

In a strange way, perhaps this is an indication that another striker has been identified. Time will tell.

Didn't we have Sadda N'Daiye (striker) from Troyes along with a midfielder?

However we have almost settled on 433
that means we play 5 out of Hurst Atkinson Straker Clifford Laird Leonard Timlin Bedsente Payne
so 5 out of 9

if we are sticking with 433 that probably about right
