Good Morning Shrimpers Everywhere!

SING LOUD, WEAR BLUE (or red), BE PROUD!

I’m excited, nervous but ready for a fantastic day out.

Sparing a thought for those locally or globally that can’t make the game for work, health or ticket issue reasons.

Come on you reds. We can do this!
Ha! It’s still Saturday evening for me so time for one or two more sherbets. Kick off is 4am here so - to kip or not to kip, that is the question. Aside from the positive result that we ARE going to get, the thing I’m looking forward to most is D1versity’s vlog. When we win I fully expect him to actually burst! Enjoy the day everyone. 😊😊

Couldn't sleep well at all, then up at 5 with my little girl. Haven't slept well last few nights to be honest...

This is wrecking me. This feels like the most important game ever. I wish I could have been there (money/travel issues) but now I feel like I would have been too drained to even get there. Even though it's a chance I never thought we'd have this season I want Southend United back in the football league so much.

Gonna be a long day waiting for this one to start. Can't wait to dose up on adrenaline and cider and get embarrassingly emotional about it all later.

COME ON YOU SHRIMPERS!

It's hit me that this is the most important match in both ours and Oldhams history, whichever one of us gets back to the EFL I hope today inspires the other to do it next year.
It's also struck me that of all promotions since 1990, when Vic and Rat just thought promotion would be a way to get new stadium £'sthat we are all one from COSU.
In a perverse way this weeks ticket fiasco has shown we are all one, COSU, management, players and fans, all working together. We may not have the Hollywood or oil money millions; we have so much more than that, we have spirit that has been born in adversity, when you've got that setbacks may come our way, but we are unstoppable and the world is ours for the taking.

Nerves have fully kicked in.

This feels bigger than any game in my lifetime. I don’t know why, perhaps it is.

Perhaps it’s where I’ve aged, Lincoln I was too young to appreciate how great it was.

Perhaps it’s because our football league status depends on it.

Perhaps it’s because a win today would truly feel like the redemption day for the past decade of mostly misery.

Perhaps it’s because today doesn’t just mean a lot to me and the shrimpers core, but it matters to an entire city. The spirit around the club and community since the takeover has been so uplifting. It feels good to be Southend again. For the first time in over a decade you can truly believe we have a positive future.

I hope we win today for me, for us as a fanbase, for the players and management, but most importantly for the staff who went months unpaid, were put through untold amounts of **** and have still come out fighting the other side.

Come on Southend

Heard from Pastor John out in Perth who visited for a month a few years back:

You’ve been in my thoughts a lot these last few weeks. What an unbelievable story. Seriously if we win, I’ll be driving around the streets of my hometown, on my own, waving my scarf, my flag, while wearing my Freddy Eastwood - shirt all on my own. Hope the local constabulary will understand. It’s really like a fairytale isn’t it. All the best to you both. Be thinking of you being there, knowing now much it means to everyone. I’ll be watching on Dazn. So grateful that’s available. UTB’s
💙

Awake since five, watch says 4 hours sleep, It’s worse than a restless night and early start when going on holiday. But today’s the day, first came to Roots Hall at the age of 8, 59 years ago, never felt so emotional about a game, thank you Consortium and every staff member.

Morning fellow Shrimpers
I did not sleep very well last night, I wonder why?
Feels like a very, very big day I hope we win but whatever happens I will be proud to be a Shrimper sourounded by our family of Shrimpers (very special people)
I'm 71 and have been hooked by this club for many years despite the ups and downs particularly what we have all gone through in the last couple of years, so proud to still have our club........
Be safe everyone and enjoy our "special day" UTB's or Red's
