Good news - bad news!

Mine up £20 a month! Riches beyond my wildest dreams and now can buy two Col Ewe players. COYBB

sad but true; M of P have been given a cost of living rise of 1.5% this year.

but the costs of living lower are "valued" at worthy of a 1% rise for NHS workers.

Drives me absolutely mad. No matter who is in power, they continue to award themselves huge pay rises while many others, including Government services and Home Office roles, have had barely any increase.

And yet, the Tories keep getting voted in.

That is an odd thing about living on this Southend Thames Riviera, the Tories get 30k votes each election, for wet lettuce personages of Amiss and Dudridge YET it is almost impossible to met anyone who admits voting for the swine!

To be fair, it is now set by an independent watchdog rather than MPs themselves, and whilst they have had salary increases in the last few years they have largely been accompanied by big cuts to pensions, expenses, etc so that overall they aren't actually any better off.

In the grand scheme of things MPs don't get paid a great deal.

I would prefer to see them earn a lot more say £150K but be banned from taking any other paid positions.

In the past, they've also petitioned the independent watchdog to not award them an increase.

Me too. But I would take it further, and give them around £200,000 to £250,000 (the number isn't really important as it can be calculated more accurately than me sticking my finger in the air) and tell them that they can't get paid for anything else, and that they don't get any expenses. Everything comes out of their salary.
