Greg Halford signs

I'm confused why the championship get more players, why aren't the squad sizes the same throughout the efl?

Seems a certain irony on SZ that some posters are not keen on re-signing Cox due to the alleged bad attitude that he may bring to the dressing room and squad, whereas little consideration is given to perhaps the positive benefits that Halford brings to the dressing room and squad.

Is Halford a 'shoe in' starter? No, but perhaps PB sees the overall benefits that we don't see on game day?

Maybe Halford is a good influence in the changing room?

Even so it would probably be cheaper to get a puppy and maybe a kitten.

Yes quite agree , we were in that position at one time , especially under Chris Powell, seems way to low

The injuries we had then, if we did only have 20 players, we would have struggled getting a 6-a-side team out!!

I apologise if this has been chewed over ad nauseum BUT how was it that David Webb team/squads changed very little from week to week, month to month. Suspensions seemed to be more disruptive than injuries yet, lately, 30 years later we get fresh, long injuries seemingly every game?

Because players now run faster and further.

And are more careful not to play through an injury. They're also less likely to be expected to given that squad sizes and the number of substitutes have increased.

It's also easier now to get a yellow or red card than it was 30-odd years ago, hence the increased number of suspensions.

Given the current inflated prices of purhasing those pets and the presumably miserly offer we've offered Greg on a short term deal I'm not sure that would be true! ???

Unless they're Greg, Emile, Ferguson, Macca and most of the others.
I'd love to see a squad 60m sprint. Egbri the winner, or are those bees wings a trompe l’oeil, as the French call it?
Egbri is quick over 5 yards but not 60. Lennon is supposed to be the fastest player in the squad over that sort of distance if ever fit though Walsh might be a contender now.

As far as I know its permanent as the aim is to reduce the size of squads to help youngsters get more of a chance as part of it. League one and 2 sides must reduce to a squad of just 20?? Not sure how well it will work with injuries ?

PFA dont like it at all and considering legal challenge in part related to the in jury risk over a long season and Championship clubs retain a squad of 25. So that does leave a lot of [players looking for a club and maybe having to drop further down the food chain

Is it 20 players over the age of 21? With under 21's not counting to limit - similar to this season, albeit limit was a few players more.

If we end up with both MM and PB having signed Ricky Holmes and Greg Halford, perhaps it tells us something about the difficulty we have attracting quality, fit players in their prime.
Ricky holmes will tear up the national league! He may not be the player he was but hes too good for that league!!
