I wasn’t old enough to appreciate him as a player but my Dad always talked about him and how good he was. I followed him afterwards and wanted nothing more than for him to be a success as a manager for us.

Happy Birthday you Southend Legend. Always loved the way you came across to the West stand and gave us your personal seal of approval. 53yrs is pretty young in my book. I've just bought a tin of quick drying wood stain that is guaranteed for 10 years. That means I will be 81 before I need to stain my piece of wood again. Like I say, 53 is only a child.
