Breaking News Harry Cardwell signs

This just does not feel like a Southend United signing, us signing another team's influential player? Unheard of.

That's quite a strike force for the remainder of this season and next already on board with Murphy, Dalby and Cardwell.

I wonder how Maher sees them fitting together, whether all three could play in our 3-4-3 formation and who would fit where.

Surprised with this one, Bexley Blue mentioned "Ross County reportedly bid £100k for him this month, that we would appear to have beaten off Chesterfield's competition for his signature" so if we've spent 6 figures on a striker I guess it really does show the work Tom has been doing behind the scenes with business plans and budgets for next year to be confident we can pull that off.

Very unlikely to be all up front I would imagine, but quite the fee for a club like us.

EDIT: The £100k bid was last Jan after their FA Cup run to the 4th round. If it's true he was out of contract this summer it's possible we might have got him for less than that.

Apparently beat Chesterfield to the signing, multiple reports were saying they were poised to sign him.

Love this strike force we have going, Murphy, Dalby, Dennis, Cardwell, love it.

Excellent. Good competition for Murphy and Dalby, which may bring out the best in them. Also would be a good sub for one of those about the 70th minute. Who knows, he may even nick one of their starting slots. Didn't mention Dennis, as he's our best striker at the moment, but even he now has to maintain his standards.

Harry asked for a transfer so he could move back into full time football. There have been several offers over the last 12 months, none of which we felt matched the valuation of the player. However, with the way he’s been playing recently it was inevitable further bids would come in and Southend’s offer, coupled with Harry’s desire to leave and his contract ending in the summer, gave us the opportunity to do a deal that worked for all partiesTerry Robinson (CEO, Chorley FC)

Is this really SUFC? How much have we paid? Maybe a bit less due to him being out of contract at the end of the season .... but still a significant fee it seems. Don't think he'll be a 70th minute sub based on that.

What sort of forward is he? Does he replace Murphy, Dalby, or Dennis? Noting Murphy is out injured for a while
