Hattrick Training

MrB

Life President
So what training technique do you use and why?  Do you train to invest or just train the players you have?

Personally having just got back in I've gone for a long term defensive strategy as I'm prepared to wait to reap the benefits and build a long term squad.  With each 9-11 week rollout of 10 upgraded defenders I'll be able to buy a top class player plus 10 replacement trainees. It's a long term strategy but eventually I'll have a comfy level V team (even if I'm still in VI!).  At some point I'll have to sacrifice a training spot or two to be effective in matches but I'm more than prepared to wait.

I am training PM this season so I can keep a couple of the ones I am training now while selling on the others. Am thinking about doing half scoring half GK next season as I want my forwards all Solid atleast and my two 19 yr old keepers Solid too. With a coach upgrade to Solid I can acheve this and stay as the best team in my league and carry on building till I have an alround of atleast Excellent before I get promoted to V from VI (I throw my qualifier as I dont want to go up and lose fans and get smaller crowds).

Currently I am training defenders, but at the moment I'm in between training this for the long run or training up to the end of this season and selling off 6 of my trainees and then switch to keeper/scoring training next season so I can hopefully have a good alround team get promoted to V the next season and start playing 3-5-2 whilst training PM. I could get quite a decent squad if I managed to land myself into a medium V league I think, but then again if I trained defending on the long run I could make alot more money and buy my other position players, ohwell something for me to ponder on atleast.

Yep... pretty much what I've been doing this season.

I'm training strikers, so would ideally have been playing 3-4-3 all season... however, I spent the first half of the season playing 3-5-2 in the league games in order to get points on the board.

Now that I've got 18 points on the board, I'm fairly confident that I'll finish in the top 4, which (at Level V) means that I'll have no post-season qualification game to play - especially since I'm now 8 points clear of the team in 5th.

So, now I'm on to 3-4-3 for all games from now on. Trainees should shape up nicely... I'm now training:

17 yo pass striker / pass stamina/ inad passing (YP)
18 yo pass striker / solid passing (just bought for £68K - bargain!)
18 yo pass striker / weak passing (YP)
19 yo pass striker / weak passing (YP)
20 yo excellent striker / pass passing (YP last season)
23 yo pass striker / excellent stamina / solid passing (who's my top scorer!)

So, now training the full complement of 6 strikers, which is great. Probably keep the 23 yo, the 20 yo and one of the other 4; then flog the rest and try to raise as much as possible... hopefully £1m or so, all of which I will blow on a midfielder.

I'll then train PMs next season. I've got some old guys, some of whom I ought to think about shifting next season:

30 yo excellent stam / excellent PM
30 yo excellent stam / excellent set piece / solid PM / passable experience
29 yo excellent stam / solid PM

Probably sell the middle one of those... actually, might flog him this season, and then try to pick up some PM trainees towards the end of the season. As for youngsters, I've got:

22 yo excellent stam / excellent set piece / solid PM
20 yo inadequate stam / solid PM
17 yo passable stam / pass PM

Shame for the 17 yo that I can't train him this year; however, that's life. So, I'll bring in one really good 'un; and two other decent trainees... and then we'll see what happens to the SUFC midfield...

P.S. Incidentally, currently selling a striker for £50K (21 yo, solid), so check out playerid=21512995 if you're interested.

Do players still get training if they're injured? I had two defenders injured in my friendly this week. They played a part in the game so should receive training but will be injured as we pass through the update.

Matt I have just put in a bid for him doubt I will get him though as I don't want to go over 60k

also andy has an exellent forward who started @ 10k I am @ 38K now. Again doubt I will get him but if it helps you guys get a bit more dosh I dont mind helping a fellow shrimper.

I trained PM for the whole of last season which saw my 18-19 midfielders go from Solid upto Formidable. Now that I have a solid base in Midfield, I went out and bought in a passable 18-19 keeper as already got a passable keeper on a youth pull and trained them for the 1st half of these season they have now turned solid. As my forwards were not scoring goals I have decided to train those guys for the rest of the season. I reckon i will go back to PM for next season but who knows as it depends on which level i will be playing in.

Thanks for putting in an offer, Birri - I reckon young Carlos would be a good addition to any side.

Incidentally (Mr. B?) or anyone else training defenders - just put up a 17 year old passable defender for the bargain basement price of £10K. Secondaries all at "weak" - so not brill, but not awful either.

Could be worth training if you're training defenders.

10k sounds good but I reckon he's unlikely to sell for that low which takes me out of the equation right now.

Mr B you and MTS can arrange a player switch by emailing a gm and letting him know what you want to do and if he agrees its mutually agreeable he then actions it.

Sometimes...

For example, just been on Hattrick checking out this week's results (a cracking 4-0 away win over the team directly below me in the leaague, even though I played 3-4-3! Get in!).

Mr. B - incidentally, my trainee only went for £14,667. Still, can't grumble after getting £115K for Carlos (thanks Birri); whilst my new trainee (who cost me £68K) has just bagged 2.5* in his first outing.

Pleased? Ooh, just a little!!!

Well mine didn't sell so I wouldn't have been able to do anything anyway!

1-0 win over 4th placed team keeps us 3rd but miles from the top two.
