Hi

Got a great idea for an app. Do I really need a Mac to develop an iphone app? If I went down the android route, can I sell it,and how??

If you have never developed software you are a fair way from writing a commercial quality app.

Android Market for Developer Help

Get all the tools/SDKs for Android here - Android Developers

To develop an iPhone app(lication) you'll need an Intel based Mac + iPhone or iPod Touch, you'll also need to register in the Apple iPhone Developer Program (you'll have to pay $99 if you decide to release the app). Check out the iOS Dev Center to register and get all the dev tools.

I assume that most Android apps are still written in Java or C/C++/C#. Google also do the Google App Inventor for a simple GUI based way to make apps. Apple iOS I believe uses Objective C for native apps.
